NBA Rumors: Luka Doncic “Upset” About Mavericks Firing GM Donnie Nelson

2 Min Read

The Dallas Mavericks have the luxury of enjoying the greatness of Luka Doncic — who, at just 22-years-old, has become one of the best players in the NBA.

While the Mavs have every intention of keeping Doncic for years to come, recent developments have raised some questions about his willingness to sign any type of long-term deal with the franchise.

Earlier in the week, a report surfaced by Sam Amick which highlighted a certain level of disdain between Doncic and Dallas’ “shadow GM” Haralabos Voulgaris.

Now, there are whispers that Luka is unhappy with the recent decision by the Mavericks to fire long-time GM Donnie Nelson.

“The one guy who’s upset about it is Luka Doncic. They are really close,” said Marc Spears.

No reason has been provided for Nelson’s dismissal, but it seems that the franchise’s cornerstone player is not a fan of the move.

With a guy as good as Luka, any team in the league would bend over backward for their chance to add him to their roster. He’s just that good.

And while every indication is that Luka will sign a supermax extension later this summer, there is increasing doubt about just how well his relationship with the organization is doing.

We can expect the trade rumors to only ramp up in the weeks and months to come.
