NBA Rumors: Miami Heat Are “Monitoring” Karl-Anthony Towns

2 Min Read

With Jimy Butler and Bam Adebayo, the Miami Heat have a core that is capable of competing with the best in the NBA. But, until they take action to further improve their roster, they might never be good enough to secure a title.

With the trade deadline quickly approaching, Pat Riley’s squad is expected to take action and make a move to change their standing in the East. According to one NBA executive, Karl-Anthony Towns could be on their radar as a potential target…

One NBA executive says the Miami Heat are monitoring Karl-Anthony Towns, per @massey_evan

Towns, 25, is among the best young talents in the league, with career averages of 22.6 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game on 49% shooting.

As a multi-faceted big with youth, size, and athleticism, Towns is an ideal pairing next to Butler and Adebayo. He could help open up some opportunities on the offensive end while also adding some strength and versatility for the defense on the interior.

The question is, will Towns ever be made available by the Timberwolves? As they continue to experience mediocrity in the West, the idea of KAT opting-out grows increasingly likely. But, for the Heta to ever get a hold of him, they’re going to need to give up significant pieces.

It remains to be seen whether or not they’ll be willing to pay the price.
