NBA Rumors: Nic Batum Plans To Join The LA Clippers After He Clears Waivers

1 Min Read

In the aftermath of several major signings by the Lakers, their biggest rivals, and closest enemies, are looking to play catch up as they prepare for another attempt at the title.

With just weeks to go until preseason begins, the Clippers are close to bringing in an intriguing name to add behind their star-studded lineup: 12-year veteran, Nicolas Batum.

After a disappointing performance in the 2019-20 campaign, the Clippers went for a culture reset, promoting Tyronn Lue to replace Doc Rivers on the sidelines and swapping Montrezl Harrell for premier shot-blocker, Serge Ibaka.

With the addition of Batum, they get a two-sided veteran to add some depth to the second unit. Though Batum has had trouble staying in the rotation for Charlotte these past few years, he was once a 15 point per game scorer. Back in Portland, he was an important two-way wing that helped them achieve monumental success.

The question is: can he re-discover his game in LA? It will be interesting to see how he plays, and if his arrival can help the Clippers finally meet their goals.
