NBA Rumors: Tom Thibodeau On The Hot Seat As Struggles Continue For Knicks

After showing so much promise a year ago, the New York Knicks are falling — hard. They’re out of the play-in picture completely at this point with no clear solution on how to turn things around.

After blowing another 25+ point lead on Wednesday, fans are looking for someone to blame. So far, the easy target has been Tom Thibodeau, who apparently may be on the hot seat already.

No matter how you feel about the situation, your individual opinion won’t have much impact on what happens next with the Knicks. Whose opinion matters? Knicks executive vice president William Wesley. And in conversations with Knicks owner James Dolan this month, Wesley has been laying the blame for the season – at least in part – on Thibodeau’s coaching, per SNY sources.

The Knicks were the 4th seed just last season. Julius Randle was an All-Star. Thibodeau was the coach of the year. For the team to fall so fast, with largely the same personnel, really makes you question whether it was ever really legit in the first place.

Either way, fans are speaking up and speaking out.

“The New York Knicks are a national disgrace, ladies and gentlemen,” said Stephen A. Smith. They are horrible. Thibs, we’re hearing the New York Knicks organization ain’t too fond of him anymore, he may be out. I don’t give a damn if he’s gone tonight. Julius Randle, I’m done with him. Leon Rose. We’ve got inmates in state penitentiaries more visible than this man. He’s the president of basketball operations and we can’t find this man.”

This season, the Knicks are going nowhere. That much is clear. After that, it’ll be up to Leon Rose to get back on the right side of the tracks.

This summer, multiple high-profile free agents are expected to hit the market, and there is a chance New York might finally get its franchise guy.

Until then, the folks watching from Madison Square Garden will have to live with the results.
