LeBron James possibly being traded to the Brooklyn Nets for Kevin Durant is an outlandish idea that has been making its rounds around the world of trade rumors. A swap between the rivals would be absolutely incredible and would send both players back to the conferences they have previously dominated in.
LeBron is older than KD and is on an expiring contract, so the value is definitely not equitable between the two teams. KD has a 4-year deal to play alongside Anthony Davis if this trade is actually pulled off. LeBron gets to team up with Kyrie Irving like he wants to, just that it’ll be in a black and white jersey instead of the Lakers’ purple and gold.
Chris Broussard is emerging as the voice of reason now, confirming that LeBron would not be okay with being traded away from LA and that the Lakers would not do that to the 2020 Finals MVP.

“No. I talked to somebody close to LeBron and LeBron wouldn’t want this to happen. The Lakers respect him enough that they’ll do what he wants to do. He doesn’t want to be traded. He wants to win a championship but he’s not desperate to a point that he’ll uproot his family and go somewhere where he doesn’t want to be. He doesn’t need to do that at this stage in his career.”
A LeBron-KD trade is something we would see in a game of NBA 2K but it’s not as feasible in real life. LeBron is a bigger personality than many people acknowledge, he will never be moved to another team without permission.
It seems like even KD needs to be satiated in a trade and if he saw LeBron fail with this Lakers core, he may not be too thrilled about being slotted into that situation next to Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis. Too many issues exist for this trade to be realistic.
