The Brooklyn Nets are still trying to figure out what to do with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, but they’re not losing sleep over that. In fact, rumors suggest that they are calm and waiting to receive a compelling offer for one of their players, which would clear the path to deal the other.
Meanwhile, they are getting ready for life after Durant and Irving and have apparently identified a couple of targets for this offseason. Following the reports suggesting that the Utah Jazz is now open to discussing trades regarding Donovan Mitchell, several teams around the league have expressed their interest in the talented guard.
The Brooklyn Nets are one of them, and even though other teams appear to have the upper hand in a potential Mitchell trade, the Nets have interest in landing the 2018 draftee. A couple of days ago, Jacob Eisenberg first reported about the Nets’ interest in Mitchell and now one New York insider has confirmed it.
“Earlier in the free agency period, several teams monitoring the Mitchell situation saw the Heat as the favorite to land him via trade,” wrote Ian Begley of SportsNet New York.
“But Brooklyn has interest in landing Mitchell as well.”
This situation could see the Nets and Knicks facing off against each other again, as it happened in the summer of 2019 when Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving decided to team up at Barclays Center instead of Madison Square Garden. Mitchell to the Knicks is an old story, and this summer appears to be the perfect time for these two to link up.
However, the Knicks aren’t the only ones interested in Spida. Perhaps the Heat steals him from Utah or the Nets make a shocking move again and acquire Mitchell’s services to start a new chapter once KD and Kyrie are gone.
