The Dallas Mavericks have made a number of moves in free agency and at the 2023 NBA Draft, but it still doesn’t seem as though they are true contenders in the Western Conference. It seems as though the team is trying to make some trades to get to the next level.

A recent report from Tim Cato of The Athletic revealed that the Dallas Mavericks have had trade talks regarding Bojan Bogdanovic with the Detroit Pistons. The potential trade framework would also send Killian Hayes to the Mavericks.

“League sources say that the talks were sturdy enough to discuss a potential trade framework — Bogdanović and Killian Hayes coming to Dallas, Tim Hardaway Jr. and JaVale McGee going out — but it’s unclear what else would have been required from each party to expand it to a four-team deal and what ultimately caused those talks, however serious, to stall,” Cato claimed.

There is no doubt that Bojan Bogdanovic is a solid veteran that has contributed to many playoff runs. Though he is not a star-level player, his 3PT shooting still makes him a premier offensive role player. Bogdanovic could make the Mavericks a championship team.

This past season, Bojan Bogdanovic averaged 21.6 PPG, 3.8 RPG, and 2.6 APG while shooting 41.1% from 3PT range. He would definitely give the Mavericks another threat offensively, and we’ll see if the team can land him.

The Dallas Mavericks Have Also Shown An Interest In Kelly Oubre Jr.

Based on various reports, it seems clear that the Dallas Mavericks are looking for a wing player. In fact, a recent report linked them to Kelly Oubre Jr., who last played for the Charlotte Hornets.

“In other news, the Mavericks have also expressed exploratory interest in several free agent forwards, including Kelly Oubre Jr. and Derrick Jones Jr., league sources told HoopsHype.”

There is no doubt that both Kelly Oubre Jr. and Bojan Bogdanovic could be great targets for the Dallas Mavericks. Though Kelly Oubre is less efficient offensively than Bogdanovic, he is a much better defender. He could be an easier target in free agency as well, as getting Bogdanovic requires a trade. We will see who ends up on the Mavericks in the future, but it is safe to say that they are exploring all available options.
