Breaking: Cleveland Cavaliers Acquire Andre Drummond In Deal With Pistons

2 Min Read

The Detroit Pistons appear to be starting over again after the famous Griffin/Drummond experiment ended in failure.

In a report by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Pistons are finalizing a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers for star big man Andre Drummond.

Drummond’s future has been a major question mark in the wake of Detroit’s struggles. As a traditional, rim-running big, he became expendable by the Pistons in their quest for a rebuild.

Nobody saw the Cavs trading for him, however. In what has been a quiet season for them, their rebuild has them years away from contention. With Drummond, however, they might have just taken another step forward.

Averaging 17.8 points, 15.8 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game, Dre is easily one of the league’s top centers. Though his offensive game is limited, he can thrive in an environment surrounded by shooters and perimeter threats.

In return, the Cavs will send Brandon Knight, John Henson, and a 2nd round pick over to Detroit.

It seems as if the deal was a cap-reliever for the Pistons, who must be attempting a full-on reset in the midst of major struggles. IT will be interesting to see what they do with their remaining veterans.
