NBA Trade Rumors: D’Angelo Russell To Timberwolves, Clint Capela To Warriors In Proposed Three-Way Deal

2 Min Read

With just days to go until the trade deadline, rumors around the league are heating up regarding some of the biggest names on the market.

Houston is looking to dump Clint Capela and, while trading him may prove challenging, there are a few teams on the hunt for a dominant, rim-running center. In a deal proposed by Dan Mennella of CBS Sports Radio, Houston could package Capela and PJ Tucker in a three-way trade with the Warriors and Timberwolves for Robert Covington and Gorgui Dieng.

“Golden State’s D’Angelo Russell and Minnesota’s Karl Anthony Towns appear fated to play together, but their teams make for ill-fitting trade partners. Enter Clint Capela and the Rockets to make it a three-way Western Conference blockbuster. Houston is said to covet Minnesota’s Robert Covington, a prototype 3-and-D wing with great length. He’s affordable and under team control for three more seasons after this one. Gorgui Dieng has been buried behind Towns on the Wolves depth chart for years but recently proved he is still a starting-caliber NBA center when given the chance during KAT’s lengthy absence.”

With Capela and Tucker, the Warriors would acquire some much-needed frontcourt talent. Alongside Steph, Klay, and Draymond, Capela would have room to work inside and give his team additional shot opportunities.

The Timberwolves, meanwhile, would get the highly coveted D’Angelo Russell. Alongside Wiggins and Towns, D’Lo could be what the struggling Wolves need to finally turn things around.

All three teams would benefit in the deal and it’ll be interesting to see what these teams put together in the days to come.
