NBA Rumors: Warriors Trade For Kevin Durant Highly Unlikely Despite Interest From Team

Kevin Durant is a Golden State Warriors legend, winning two championships with the team during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. While he left the team in 2019, many fans still appreciate what he did for the franchise during his tenure.

It was recently reported that Kevin Durant requested a trade, and there’s no doubt that a lot of teams are trying to assemble packages for the superstar. A team that was reportedly interested is the Warriors.

Despite their registered interest, Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic has recently revealed that a reunion between the team and Kevin Durant is “highly unlikely”. That is probably good for the rest of the league, as Kevin Durant made the Warriors unstoppable when he went there in 2016 free agency.

ESPN Andscape’s Marc Spears first mentioned the Warriors’ potential interest. The Warriors could undoubtedly put together one of the best packages for a Durant trade. And for a front office known for unearthing every stone, they’d have to vet the chance to add Durant.

With that said, according to multiple sources in the Warriors organization, a reunion is highly unlikely. Nothing about the last three years suggests the Warriors would be willing to pay the price for a KD return. That price is likely (and reportedly) an All-Star-caliber player, young talent and a heap of draft picks.

It remains to be seen where Kevin Durant ends up going. There are a lot of teams that can put together decent packages for him. While he has some teams which he prefers to go to, such as the Heat and the Suns, the Raptors reportedly believe they have the best possible package for him.

Hopefully, we see Kevin Durant go to a destination he feels comfortable playing in. He gives any team a chance to win a title, and as fans, we’ll have to wait to see where he ends up.
