Eric Gordon is a solid backup guard these days, and he has historically been viewed as a solid sixth man. As of right now, Eric Gordon is averaging 12.3 PPG, 2.0 RPG, and 2.6 BPG while shooting 34.9% from beyond the arc for the Houston Rockets.

There’s no doubt that Eric Gordon’s experience would make him a valuable addition to almost any team with aspirations of competing immediately. A recent report from Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report revealed that the Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, and Milwaukee Bucks are all interested in acquiring Gordon.

The Rockets run the risk of a diminishing return, but Gordon seems likely to be dealt by the deadline.

Interested teams include the Suns, Lakers and Bucks.

It remains to be seen if any of these teams will manage to acquire Gordon prior to the trade deadline this year. The Milwaukee Bucks have already offered four second-round picks for Eric Gordon’s services, but it is clear that the Houston Rockets are holding out for a first-round pick.

The Philadelphia 76ers Are Also Interested In Eric Gordon

On top of the previously mentioned contending teams, the Philadelphia 76ers are another potential landing destination for Eric Gordon. A previous report relayed the words of an NBA executive, who suggested that the 76ers could land Gordon if the Rockets came to their senses and were willing to accept a reasonable return for the veteran.

According to sources who spoke with Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports, one potential target could be Eric Gordon of the Houston Rockets.

“If Houston comes to its senses, it could happen,” an Eastern Conference executive told Deveney.

Due to the combination of his age and contract, it is hard to see any team giving up an unprotected future first-round pick for Eric Gordon. However, perhaps teams would be more willing to do so if the Rockets were willing to accept a first-round pick with reasonable protections.

The Philadelphia 76ers would definitely be a solid destination for Eric Gordon, and he would get to reunite with former teammates James Harden and PJ Tucker, as well as GM Daryl Morey. The Philadelphia 76ers are already a good team this season, but perhaps Eric Gordon is a piece that could push them over the top.

A lot of things can change prior to the trade deadline, and other teams could end up being in the mix for Eric Gordon. It will be interesting to monitor this situation, and we’ll see whether the Rockets are able to trade him.
