Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks are both not where they wanted to be this season. The Lakers find themselves within a reasonable distance of the playoff spots, but they’re still picking up losses here and there. And the Knicks are not doing very well in the Eastern Conference either, their decision not to add a superstar in the offseason means they are very much mediocre this season.

Both the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers need to shake things up if they want to achieve something this season. The Knicks are unlikely to get a big star at the trade deadline, but the Lakers can still aim to add some good role players. And if recent reports are to be believed, they are targeting Cam Reddish and Evan Fournier of the Knicks. And it would seem to be a matter of mutual interest.

The Knicks Contacted The Lakers About A Potential 2-For-1 Swap

The Lakers know they will have to trade someone to get the players they need, and for the longest time, that was supposed to be Russell Westbrook. However, his resurgence means they have to flip other roster pieces, and one of the ones mentioned in talks around the NBA was Patrick Beverley. And according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, they have had a potential offer as well.

“Before Reddish’s recent benching in New York, the Knicks originally engaged the Lakers to see if they’d have interest in swapping Evan Fournier for Patrick Beverley and Kendrick Nunn, league sources told HoopsHype,” wrote Scotto. “Beverley and Nunn will both become unrestricted free agents after this season.

“Since then, the Knicks have reportedly looked to package Reddish with Fournier in various trade talks.”

Kendrick Nunn has been one of the worst players in the league this season, the stats show it. Patrick Beverley has also not had much of an impact, which means that the Lakers might be better off moving on from both. If they can get a solid scorer and shooter like Evan Fournier in return, then that’s something for them to consider for sure.
