- The Los Angeles Lakers are a potential landing spot for Buddy Hield, per Shams Charania
- The Lakers have long coveted Buddy Hield
- Other teams like the Mavericks and the 76ers could be in the mix
It was recently reported that 3PT shooter Buddy Hield and the Indiana Pacers are working on a trade, and there is no doubt that he would fit on a number of franchises around the league.
One of the teams that has consistently been linked with Buddy Hield is the Los Angeles Lakers. It seems as though the team might still have interest, and Shams Charania recently reported that the Lakers might be a potential landing spot for Hield.
“The Lakers were long rumored for Buddy Hield… You look at teams like Dallas, Philly, and Milwaukee. Those are the types of teams that could definitely use a shooter like Buddy Hield.”

It remains to be seen if the Los Angeles Lakers do manage to land Buddy Hield in the future. He could definitely be a solid piece for them, but the team likely won’t want to give up one of their core players for Buddy Hield, as he is on an expiring $18.6 million contract.
Last season, Buddy Hield averaged 16.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game for the Indiana Pacers while shooting 42.5% from 3PT range. There is no doubt that he is a quality player, and we’ll see which team ends up getting him in the future.
Buddy Hield Didn’t Like The Indiana Pacers’ Extension Offer This Summer
Buddy Hield is a good fit with Tyrese Haliburton, and it is slightly surprising that the Indiana Pacers are trying to trade him. However, the reason that Hield and the Pacers are working on a trade is due to stalled extension talks, as Hield did not “feel desired” after their proposal.
“Hield is open to a trade elsewhere, according to rival team sources, but no deal is imminent and there aren’t any current substantive talks with any other team. The Pacers did offer Hield an extension in recent weeks, but it’s believed their proposal did not make the seven-year guard feel desired, league sources said.”
On some level though, it makes sense for the Pacers to move on from Buddy Hield. Though he is an elite 3PT shooter, he is 30 years old right now, and doesn’t necessarily fit the timeline of the team’s rebuild. Perhaps it is best to get some value in return and avoid losing Hield for nothing.
Buddy Hield Could Help Any Team With HIs 3PT Shooting Ability
We have seen countless times when talented players don’t end up working well together due to poor fit. However, the advantage of having a player like Buddy Hield is that he fits alongside almost every single player in the league due to his elite off-ball movement and 3PT shooting ability. Every single star in the league needs spacing to operate, and a top-tier 3PT shooter that can punish defenses for loading up on them. Buddy Hield provides exactly that.
It will be interesting to see which teams end up joining the Buddy Hield sweepstakes. His trade value will likely be lower than usual due to his expiring contract, but he could still be a great win-now addition for a lot of teams.
