NBA Rumors: Lakers Could Offer Kuzma, Cook And Cousins For Robert Covington

2 Min Read

As February’s trade deadline nears, the Lakers have been squarely in the NBA’s top rumors as they look to make a splash before the postseason.

One name that has continually surfaced in connection to the Lakers is Minnesota forward Robert Covington, whose time with the Timberwolves appears to be nearing its end. According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the Lakers will be among the staunchest pursuers of RoCo this trade season and could use dangle Kyle Kuzma in talks to give them an edge.

The Los Angeles Lakers may reportedly try to build a blockbuster offer surrounding forward Kyle Kuzma in an effort to acquire Minnesota Timberwolves forward Robert Covington ahead of the Feb. 6 NBA trade deadline.

ESPN’s Bobby Marks reported Tuesday the Lakers could package Kuzma, Quinn Cook and the injured DeMarcus Cousins as part of its proposal for Covington, but it’s unclear whether that would be enough for Minnesota, which will try to generate a “bidding war” in the coming weeks.

Covington is a more experienced, well-rounded version of Kuzma. At 29-years-old, and a capable defender, he might be a better fit with the current Lakers regime.

In return, L.A. would offer Minnesota a young scorer with a lot of potential. He could help relieve pressure from Wiggins and Towns on the offensive end. Plus, Robert has been struggling with the Wolves this season, putting up a modest 12 points per game on 43% shooting 34% shooting from beyond the arc.

Eiuther way, expect Covington to be a the subject of many more trade rumors going forward.
