In one of the last trades of the 2025 NBA trade deadline, the Los Angeles Clippers parted ways with young forward Kevin Porter Jr. According to Shams Charania, the young swingman is headed to the Bucks in exchange for MarJon Beauchamp.

As the Bucks struggle to meet expectations with Damian Lillard and Ginnais Antetokounmpo, the front office has taken it upon themselves to fill out the roster with a strong supporting cast. After trying (and failing) to add Jimmy Butler to the roster, they settled on adding versatile young swingman, Kevin Porter Jr.

The young swingman has a complicated history that includes a domestic violence incident back in 2023. He was arrested for his involvement and the Rockets exiled him from their team due to some of the details that were released. Still, after charges were dropped in his case, he returned to the NBA and is now looking to find a new NBA home.

This season, through 45 games, Porter Jr. is averaging 9.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game on 42.3% shooting. He was a steady hand for the Clippers’ frontcourt and provided a key spark off the bench.

With the Bucks, he joins Giannis and Lillard in the pursuit of a title. At 27-22, the Bucks are 5th in the East and a whopping 13 games back from a top spot in the standings. His versatile skillset should help the Bucks keep up with the elite Eastern teams and give them an edge against younger, more athletic teams.

In return, all they had to give up was MarJon Beauchamp, a 24-year-old bench player who is averaging 2.0 points for his career. With this trade, the Clippers were able to get younger while shedding some salary and clearing some space in the front-court rotation.

It’s far from a groundbreaking move in the NBA, but this deal could allow the Bucks to play more flexibly on the court with a rotation that can adapt to all circumstances. Either way, with the deadline over now, the Bucks have no choice but to move forward this season as presently constructed.
