Derrick Rose is no longer the MVP that he was during his time with the Chicago Bulls, but he has morphed himself into a fantastic sixth man over the course of the last few years. Derrick Rose had a solid year with the New York Knicks last season, averaging 12.0 PPG, 3.0 RPG, and 4.0 APG while shooting 40.2% from beyond the arc.

An NBA executive that spoke with insider Sean Deveney of Heavy.com revealed that Derrick Rose is the “most tradeable player” on the Knicks, even stating that “there are 29 teams that would be willing to take him”. The executive pointed out that Derrick Rose has become a “very good 3PT shooter” and has a good contract. Ryan Aston of Heavy.com relayed the news.

In speaking with Heavy.com’s Sean Deveney, the East exec namechecked Rose as the most tradeable player on New York’s roster, “hands-down.”

Said the exec: “He’s older now obviously and whatever happened off the floor with him, on the floor he has been such a pro everywhere he has gone. His contract is good ($14.5 million for 2022-23, player options at $15.6 million for 2023-24), he has become a very good three-point shooter, he brings energy, he likes coming off the bench.”

As such, the exec believes that “there are 29 teams that would be willing to take him.” Obviously, that’s list that would include the Bulls, who face at least a modicum of uncertainty in the backcourt heading into next season due to Lonzo Ball’s extended recovery from left knee surgery.

There is no doubt that Derrick Rose is one of the best sixth men in the league, and he can definitely be a winning player that can contribute to a team that is a championship contender.

It remains to be seen if the New York Knicks do, in fact, trade Derrick Rose. He is viewed as a good veteran that could serve as a great leader for their young core. However, Derrick Rose could also serve as a valuable trade piece, so we’ll see what the New York Knicks end up doing.
