Donovan Mitchell is one of the best young shooting guards in the league. He had a great regular season with the Utah Jazz this year and put up 25.9 PPG, 4.2 RPG, and 5.3 APG for the team.
Despite his talent and ability, the Utah Jazz have recently started listening to trade offers for Donovan Mitchell. The Knicks are expected to create a trade package for Mitchell, and they have also been linked with Mitchell in the past.
Brian Windhorst has recently revealed that the Utah Jazz are trying to get "the most they possibly can" from the New York Knicks, adding that we will likely see "a historical pick haul" heading the Utah Jazz's way.
"What league executives are saying is that this is all going to be a maneuver to get the most [the Utah Jazz] possibly can out of the New York Knicks. They know the New York Knicks are the most desperate team. They're the ones in need of a star, and they have the most ammunition to trade... I do think he is good chance that Donovan Mitchell ends up on the Knicks at the end of all this... We're going to see a historical pick haul."
Donovan Mitchell is still a younger star that can be the face of a franchise, and it makes sense that the Utah Jazz want a lot in return for him. He has been the best player on their franchise over the course of the last few years, and they won't part with him for a subpar offer.
It remains to be seen if the New York Knicks will end up getting Donovan Mitchell in the future. They definitely have the assets to get him, and now, it's only a matter of the Knicks and the Jazz agreeing on a trade.
