Nets Analyst Reveals Team Could Target Nikola Vucevic And Alex Caruso

The Nets could target two Chicago Bulls veterans.

The Brooklyn Nets have been a much more competitive team recently than they were at the start of the season, going 8-2 over the course of their last 10 games. The team has clearly stabilized after a shaky stretch to begin the year, and they look like a surefire playoff team.

It is quite obvious that the team is in win-now mode, and they need to maximize Kevin Durant while he is still on the roster. A recent report from Erik Slater of ClutchPoints revealed that Chicago Bulls veterans Nikola Vucevic and Alex Caruso could be trade targets for the Brooklyn Nets.

Chicago has plummeted to 11-16 and may be without Lonzo Ball for the entire season. Alex Caruso has steadily cemented his reputation as a high-energy defender off the bench during his time with the Bulls. I’d keep an eye on Caruso’s $9 million salary if things continue to go south there.

Similar to Caruso, Nikola Vucevic could be a target for the Nets if Chicago blows it up. Vucevic is a career 34.9 percent shooter from 3-point range and offers some secondary creation as a post scorer. The big man also ranks seventh in the league in rebounding (10.6 per game) and would provide a major boost for a Brooklyn team that ranks near dead last on the glass. The Bulls gave up Wendell Carter Jr., Otto Porter Jr., and two first-round picks for Vucevic in a trade that looks increasingly bad each day their title hopes fade. It would not be surprising to see Chicago look to recoup some value for the 32-year-old.

Since the Chicago Bulls are currently a middling team, it would be no surprise to see them tear their roster down to the bottom out and try to get a lottery pick in this year’s draft. It remains to be seen if that decision does come, but the Bulls’ current situation suggests that it could happen. The Brooklyn Nets should definitely inquire about these veterans in that scenario since they both address weaknesses on the roster.

The Brooklyn Nets Have Other Trade Targets

Nikola Vucevic and Alex Caruso could be good additions to the Brooklyn Nets, but the team has other trade options as well. It was previously reported that the Brooklyn Nets have also talked to the Atlanta Hawks about a potential trade for John Collins.

I’m told the Nets have touched base with Atlanta on John Collins… The Nets I think in search of some help along the frontline. John Collins could certainly help them.

John Collins would give the team more athleticism in the frontcourt, and a change in scenery could be best for him. He does have a large contract though, so we’ll see if the Brooklyn Nets are willing to take him on.

The Brooklyn Nets are currently the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference, and they may not need to make trades to be successful. They are a solid team already, and their talent suggests there’s potential for them to get far in the postseason.
