It seems like Russell Westbrook’s career has reached a low point right now. Not only he’s been pointed at as the scapegoat for the Houston Rockets’ failure in the playoffs but he’s not getting much interest from contending teams in the trade market.
Westbrook recently told the Rockets that he was ready to move on but so far, there have been no takers for his services. At least, not from teams poised to make a deep playoff run next season.
However, Marc Stein of The New York Times recently reported that the New York Knicks have made Westbrook one of their priorities, and considering they have enough assets to pull the trigger, it’s likely that he’ll play at the Madison Square Garden next season:
“The Knicks are on the shortlist of viable trade destinations for Houston’s Russell Westbrook, league sources say. If the Knicks prove willing to absorb the $130+ million left on Westbrook’s contract to make him their centerpiece, there is a trade to be made. They have weighed it,” Stein tweeted.

The Knicks have plenty of moveable and expiring contracts to match Westbrook’s astronomically high salary, and they’re also expected to be quite aggressive in their pursuit of an All-Star that can finally get them over the hump and back to the playoffs.
Whether the Knicks will end up pulling the trigger or not is yet to be seen but it seems like a match made in heaven. Westbrook raves about fashion and he’d be living in one of the fashion capitals in the world. Also, he’d get to be the man and salvage his legacy by taking them back to the postseason.
