  • The New York Knicks can offer an insane trade package for Giannis Antetokounmpo
  • Playing for the Knicks might be appealing for Giannis Antetokounmpo
  • Antetokounmpo could make the Knicks into a contender

The New York Knicks are a team that is in a good position right now, with a lot of flexibility. They are an appealing destination for stars due to their location in New York, as well as their abundance of tradeable young players and first-round picks. Any superstar who goes there will be walking onto a ready-made contender, and the team can also trade for any superstar who wants out from their current franchise.

There has been some speculation about Giannis Antetokounmpo potentially leaving the Milwaukee Bucks, as Antetokounmpo recently claimed that he wouldn’t re-sign with the Bucks if everyone’s not on the same page about winning a championship. If the team does not feel that Antetokounmpo will re-sign in the future, then they could explore trading him next summer. Here is a potential trade offer that the New York Knicks could field for the Milwaukee Bucks superstar.

New York Knicks Receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee Bucks Receive: RJ Barrett, Mitchell Robinson, Immanuel Quickley (Sign-And-Trade), Quentin Grimes, 2025 First-Round Pick (NYK), 2027 First-Round Pick (NYK)

This would be one of the best trade offers for Giannis Antetokounmpo from across the league, as it is flush with both young players to build around and future first-round picks. Here is why this trade offer could work for both the Milwaukee Bucks and the New York Knicks.

The New York Knicks Land Their Franchise Superstar

Even though the New York Knicks have had some decent players in recent years, it is fair to say that they haven’t had a superstar-level player since Carmelo Anthony last played for the team. Giannis Antetokounmpo has shown that he can be the No. 1 option on a championship team and has a case for being the best player in the world every season. He is the sort of no-brainer acquisition that the franchise has been saving its assets for.

This past season, Giannis Antetokounmpo averaged 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game while shooting 55.3% from the field. His dominance is clear for everyone to see, and Antetokounmpo also has a winning mentality, putting success above everything else. It is easy to see why he would want to leave the Milwaukee Bucks. They have an aging core as of right now: Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton, and Brook Lopez are 33, 32, and 35 years old respectively. Though all three of those players were crucial during the 2021 championship, it is unclear how long they will continue to play at a high level. If they decline the team will get much worse, and might not even end up contending. If the team isn’t a contender, the Antetokounmpo will likely leave.

Though the New York Knicks would have to give up a lot of assets in this scenario, getting a superstar in his prime is absolutely worth it. The team needs a superstar to become a contender, and Giannis Antetokounmpo is the best option that could potentially become available. The Knicks could be an appealing option for Giannis Antetokounmpo as well, as they will give him the opportunity to compete with a younger core. The Knicks and Antetokounmpo are clearly a great fit for one another.

Milwaukee Bucks Get A Quality Trade Package For Giannis Antetokounmpo

If the Milwaukee Bucks were to trade Giannis Antetokounmpo, that would signal a rebuild for the franchise. In that scenario, the team would likely try to get young players and picks in a potential trade package. This package from the New York Knicks offers them just that.

RJ Barrett is the centerpiece of this package, and the forward is the quintessential two-way wing that can guard multiple positions and slash well to the rim. He should be a solid foundational piece for the Milwaukee Bucks, even if he isn’t necessarily a superstar-level player. This past season, RJ Barrett averaged 19.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists.

Mitchell Robinson would be an interesting acquisition for the Milwaukee Bucks, as he is an athletic center that is perfect for the modern age. If the Bucks were to move Giannis Antetokounmpo, then the other veterans on the roster could potentially be moved in trades as well. The team would need a replacement for Brook Lopez, and Mitchell Robinson is a starting-level center who fits the bill. Robinson is a fantastic rebounder and efficient finisher at the rim and could end up getting better numbers if given the opportunity. This past season, Mitchell Robinson averaged 7.4 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks in 26.9 minutes per game.

The rest of this package is comprised of Immanuel Quickley, Quentin Grimes, and draft picks. Quickley profiles as a solid starter if given the opportunity to do more, and he has shown flashes of good perimeter defense and shot creation. Meanwhile, Grimes is a perfect fit for any team, as he is one of the better 3 and D-wing players in the league. The two first-round picks would be the draft compensation required to get this deal done.

The amount of assets that the Milwaukee Bucks would get in this trade package from the New York Knicks would definitely be worth Giannis Antetokounmpo. Though it is hard to get a fair return for a superstar-level player, amassing assets is the best move for any team in that scenario.

This Trade Could Potentially Happen In The Future

Though it is unlikely that Giannis Antetokounmpo will be traded this upcoming season, next summer is a different story. If the Milwaukee Bucks fail in the playoffs once again, it is easy to see the superstar leaving.

The New York Knicks can get Giannis Antetokounmpo, and if the Bucks try to trade him, they should exhaust every resource possible to get him. Hopefully, they can land him in the future, and perhaps we’ll see Giannis Antetokounmpo become the next face of the New York Knicks.
