  • Joel Embiid could request a trade sooner rather than later
  • Daryl Morey is hopeful that Embiid will request a trade
  • The GM reportedly wants to start a rebuild

Center Joel Embiid is the face of the Philadelphia 76ers and one of the best players in the league. There is no doubt that he is one of the most dominant players in the league and one of its top scorers.

Despite his talent, the Philadelphia 76ers have had limited playoff success thus far. There has been a lot of speculation that Joel Embiid will ask for a trade in the future. According to NBA insider Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports, GM Daryl Morey is secretly hoping that will happen so he can start a rebuild.

“Embiid has said all the right things publicly, but there has to be some residual fatigue in his entire 76ers experience. Morey is responsible for only the past few years, but in totality, many around the league believe Embiid will ask out sooner rather than later — and that a full rebuild is what Morey is covertly hoping for.”

It is fair to say that a Joel Embiid trade request cannot be ruled out at this point in time. If James Harden ends up leaving, anything is possible going forward, especially if the Philadephia 76ers aren’t competitive with just Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.

This past season, Joel Embiid averaged 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists for the Philadelphia 76ers. He would definitely get the 76ers a lot of assets in a trade, and we’ll see what ends up happening in the future regarding this situation.

The Houston Rockets Have Emerged As Potential Joel Embiid Suitors

There is no doubt that a lot of teams would love to have Joel Embiid on their rosters. In fact, a number of suitors have already been listed, with the Houston Rockets being the new Western Conference team emerging as a suitor for Joel Embiid.

“Another team is Houston, just because of the bond between Joel and Ime [Udoka],” wrote league insider Kelly Iko. “Maybe in the next year or so… because obviously, if Joel stays this season and plays it out, that’s one thing. But moving forward, I do think New York and Houston are the two teams to watch if Joel said, ‘I want to leave, too.’”

It remains to be seen where Joel Embiid will end up. Joel Embiid can make any team that he’s on elite, and he can be the difference between a team being a regular playoff team or a contender.
