The Los Angeles Lakers are clearly a team that should try to win immediately. LeBron James and Anthony Davis have still been playing at a high level, and it makes sense for the team to maximize their stars while they can still produce at the level required to win a championship.

There have been some rumors that the Los Angeles Lakers want to move for Bradley Beal or Damian Lillard once those two players become available. In the recent episode of the Fadeaway World Podcast, Lee Tran and Ishaan Bhattacharya discuss whether Bradley Beal or Damian Lillard would be the better option for the Lakers. (48:30)

Lee Tran: If the Lakers go for a player like that, you gotta go for Beal. Because I know Dame’s great. He’s the better player. But Bradley Beal is younger, he’s only 29. He’s 3 years younger than Dame, he’s been a 30 PT scorer in the past. He knows how to play with an elite playmaker since he played with John Wall. He knows how to play off a guy. Dame has been a No. 1 option his entire career, he can shoot, he can create his own shot, and he can playmake… but what separates a guy like him and Steph is that Steph can play off-ball.

Bradley Beal is more likely to be traded than Dame… he has more leverage than Dame because of his no-trade clause… Beal, to me, seems like a guy who would have an easier time being the third option based on his playstyle… I just think Bradley Beal is a better option for the Lakers if they decide to make a splashy trade.

Ishaan Bhattacharya: I think Dame is more reliable because of the production you’d get from him… I’ve seen a lot of Bradley Beal going missing moments, especially when they were in the playoffs last… when I watch him play, I always wonder if there’s a fit for him on a title-contending team. I know you said he could play off LeBron and AD better than Dame would, but I think Dame is more in the part of his career where it’s now or never. His playstyle is a little bit more malleable… Bradley Beal doesn’t strike me with a lot of confidence.

There’s no doubt that Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal would both be great additions to the Los Angeles Lakers, and it’ll be interesting to see if the team manages to acquire either of them. You can’t go wrong with either, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
