The Toronto Raptors Are Reportedly “Lurking” In Kevin Durant Sweepstakes, Says Adrian Wojnarowski

The Toronto Raptors organization is well-known for its ability to develop players, and for being amazing in terms of maximizing them. They have developed players like Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam, and their front office is well respected across the entire league.

Kevin Durant has recently asked to get traded with his preferred destinations being the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns. However, it seems as though the Toronto Raptors might be willing to get involved in the Durant sweepstakes.

Adrian Wojnarowski has recently reported that the Toronto Raptors have “all the kings of pieces” the Nets would want in a Kevin Durant trade, as well as their picks. He also pointed out that Masai Ujiri has taken a chance on acquiring a disgruntled superstar in Kawhi Leonard in the past.

Woj: “I think a team that's lurking is Toronto. They have all the kinds of pieces that you would want and their picks to do a deal for Kevin Durant…I think you keep watching Toronto to see how involved they might get for Kevin Durant.”

“I think a team that’s lurking is Toronto. They have all the kinds of pieces that you would want and their picks to do a deal for Kevin Durant. They have an organization leader in Masai Ujiri… you saw the chance he took on Kawhi Leonard with one year left on his deal…I think you keep watching Toronto to see how involved they might get for Kevin Durant.”

It remains to be seen if the Toronto Raptors manage to acquire Kevin Durant. If they were able to retain Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet while trading for him, they could be dangerous. VanVleet and Siakam made the All-Star team and the 3rd All-NBA team respectively this season. Durant could be the difference-making superstar the team needs to get back to the NBA Finals.

Hopefully, we see Kevin Durant go to a destination where he can win more championships and have reliable players who will contribute around him. That place could potentially be the Toronto Raptors, and we’ll see if they get far in negotiations with the Brooklyn Nets.
