Donovan Mitchell is one of the brightest young talents in the league. He is an athletic shooting guard that is capable of scoring on all three levels. This season, Donovan Mitchell averaged 25.9 PPG, 4.2 RPG, and 5.3 APG for the Utah Jazz while shooting 35.5% from beyond the arc.

It seems as though Donovan Mitchell’s talents have caused some teams to be interested in acquiring him. Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune has recently revealed that there have been “more than a handful of teams” that have inquired about the shooting guard’s availability, but added that the Jazz shut those teams down because they thought league executives were trying to “trade for Mitchell cheaply”.

Still, there are signs that the Jazz would prefer to keep Mitchell. After the Gobert trade, a league source told The Tribune that more than a handful of teams called the Jazz to inquire about the availability of Mitchell — and the Jazz’s front office shut them all down. Those conversations, the Jazz felt, were league executives trying to pounce on a perceived opportunity to trade for Mitchell cheaply.

Even among previously interested teams, there are no deals that are even close for Mitchell at this point in time.

There is no doubt that a Donovan Mitchell trade will require a good number of assets to go to the Utah Jazz. There’s no reason for them to give up a young star for low-ball offers.

It was reported that the Miami Heat were a team that submitted a trade offer for Donovan Mitchell, but the Utah Jazz supposedly found that offer “insufficient”. Perhaps they can be a team that trades for him in the future, and we’ll see how the Donovan Mitchell situation in Utah unfolds going forward.
