NBA Rumors: Miami Heat And Utah Jazz Interested In Acquiring Collin Sexton On Sign-And-Trade

2 Min Read

Collin Sexton has been one of the many victims of the Kevin Durant trade saga in this free agency. After being looked at as one of the best free agents available, Sexton is still waiting on a contract offer from either the Cleveland Cavaliers or by some team around the league.

With teams keeping flexibility for Durant, Sexton has not seen his situation change so far in free agency. The only team with enough cap space to sign a player like Sexton is Indiana, but it seems they are headed towards finalizing the signing of Deandre Ayton to pair him alongside Tyrese Haliburton.

According to Sam Amico of Hoops Wire, there has been interest in Sexton from certain teams. While the market for Sexton was bigger 10 days ago, the Miami Heat and the Utah Jazz are shaping up to be the front-runners in trying to get Sexton on their team.

It is great that Sexton still has tangible interest around the league after his injury. He was playing like a rookie that deserves a max extension, but his injury has added a lot of question marks around his ability and that will affect the size of the contract he can command this free agency.

Both the Jazz and the Heat look like awkward fits for Sexton considering they already have high-value players in those roles. Utah looks to be set on continuing their rebuild with Donovan Mitchell and the Heat having Tyler Herro. Even if Herro is moved from the team, it’ll be for a significant upgrade and not Collin Sexton coming off a serious injury.

The market is thinning for Sexton as scoring guards seem to be a position a lot of teams are satisfied with. There will be an interest in Sexton, but not enough to give him the money he thought he would get this offseason.
