Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum surprised the basketball world by showing off his new braided hairstyle at Bradley Beal’s wedding celebration. Tatum’s Celtics teammate, Jaylen Brown, was unaware of this hairstyle change and was in disbelief when it was brought to his attention on his first Twitch stream on Sunday.
“They saying JT got braids, hell nah,” Brown asked. “… Chat, JT got braids. That’s insane. JT just doing anything now.”

Tatum has had a lot of free time on his hands after tearing his Achilles against the New York Knicks in the 2025 playoffs. He has opted for quite a new look during what has been a difficult rehab phase, and it is going to take some time for everyone to get used to it.
Tatum appears to have been a groomsman at Beal’s wedding with Kamiah-Adams Beal. The couple had actually gotten married in 2020, but COVID-19 ensured there would be no celebration or ceremony. They finally got to host one in California on Saturday.
In case you’re wondering about the connection between Tatum and Beal, they grew up near each other in St. Louis, Missouri, and have been friends since childhood. Tatum even played for Beal’s AAU team, Brad Beal Elite.
The other groomsmen at the wedding, according to the pictures circulating online, were Memphis Grizzlies guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Garrett Temple, and Quinn Cook. Some other notable names in attendance were Kevin Durant, Isaiah Thomas, and John Wall.
Jaylen Brown Has Doubters To Silence In 2025-26
Brown was on cloud nine this time last year. The 28-year-old helped the Celtics win the 2024 NBA championship and was named Finals MVP. Brown seemed to have silenced his critics for good, but he’s now getting doubted again.
With Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis being traded and Tatum likely being out for the entire 2025-26 season, the Celtics have been completely written off. Franchise icon Bob Cousy doesn’t believe Brown can carry the team and is expecting a major rebuilding effort.
Meanwhile, longtime Boston sports analyst Bob Ryan doesn’t believe Brown will be able to lead the Celtics to a top-six finish in the East. Ryan thinks they’d be lucky to be in the mix for the seventh or eighth seed.
Can Brown silence the doubters? Well, the Celtics certainly aren’t going to be competing for the championship next season. Is an automatic spot in the playoffs beyond them, though? Not necessarily.
The East looks weaker than ever now, thanks to injuries, and if Brown can elevate his game, the Celtics could sneak in. The five-time All-Star averaged 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game in 2024-25.
You’d expect Brown’s numbers to go up across the board as he no longer has to share the ball with the likes of Tatum. He claimed to have made a lot of sacrifices over the years and now gets an opportunity to show what he is capable of as the top dog.
