Stephen Curry led the Golden State Warriors to a massive 126-102 win over the Dallas Mavericks. During the game, Curry remembered how P.J. Washington had mocked his night-night celebration during their last meeting just two weeks ago. And after a big shot over Washington, he did the same celebration against him to send a message.

This was just a great moment in what was a phenomenal night for the Golden State Warriors. Stephen Curry had an awesome game, putting up 30 points (12-20 FG), four rebounds, seven assists, and one steal to help the Warriors get their fifth win in six games, and their third win in a row.

The Warriors are now 5-1 since acquiring Jimmy Butler at the trade deadline. His arrival has revitalized the Golden State Warriors. And it has done the same for Butler, who said recently that he is having a honeymoon phase with his new team. Golden State are flying high right now, despite their original team plans for the deadline didn’t come to fruition.

The Warriors reportedly attempted to form the greatest trio in NBA history by trading for LeBron James and Kevin Durant before the deadline. While that deal didn’t come to fruition, the Warriors have still been strong after landing Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat.

The Warriors now sit ninth in the Western Conference with a 30-27 record. They are just one win behind the Mavericks, whom they beat tonight, the Minnesota Timberwolves, who sit seventh, and the L.A. Clippers, who are the sixth seed in the West, as all three teams have won 31 games this season. It appears the Warriors have a serious chance at avoiding the play-in tournament and getting to the sixth seed.

The Warriors will need to be near perfect in their remaining 25 games to try and secure automatic qualification to the playoffs. Given their lack of success in the play-in tournament, boasting a 0-3 record, the worst of any team in the NBA since the format was introduced.

Clearly, the life-and-death circumstances of the play-in tournament is something the Warriors are not good at handling. However, they have now acquired Jimmy Butler, who had arguably his greatest playoff run start in the play-in tournament. In 2023, Butler led the Miami Heat from the play-in tournament all the way to the NBA Finals, toppling the Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, and Boston Celtics.

Butler is perhaps the best playoff riser in the NBA. Pairing him with two experienced players in championship situations like Stephen Curry and Draymond Green is a recipe for success. The Warriors might look like an average team in the regular season, but their best players have immense playoff experience, which makes them very dangerous.

How far the Warriors go depends on their stars only. Their role players have shown that they are inconsistent at best and not good enough at worst. So Curry, Butler, and Green will have to lead them in any deep playoff run.
