The Golden State Warriors picked up a convincing 126-102 win over the shorthanded Dallas Mavericks tonight to keep their Playoff push alive. Previous clashes between the Mavs and Warriors this season have been quite heated, with tonight being the fourth clash this season between the franchises. This win meant that Golden State tied the season series up at 2-2.

After some aggressive taunting by the Mavs in previous wins, Draymond Green got his get back by ruthlessly trolling the Mavericks at the end of this blowout loss. He gesticulated a spanking celebration while doing Stephen Curry’s ‘night night celebration’ while staring at the Dallas bench.

Green was being a menace throughout the game, trolling Klay Thompson mid-game after his former teammate got a technical foul.

The Warriors had fun tonight, getting their revenge on the Mavericks for handing them the first loss of the Jimmy Butler era 11 days ago

Curry led Golden State with 30 points (12-20 FG) and seven assists while Jimmy Butler put up 18 points (5-9 FG) and five assists. Draymond had a great game with 13 points (5-10 FG), four rebounds, six assists, and two steals.

The Mavericks just didn’t have enough offensive production on their severely shorthanded roster. Kyrie Irving (7-18 FG) and PJ Washington (7-11 FG) led the team in scoring with 17 points apiece, while Klay Thompson (3-8 FG) and Jaden Hardy (4-7 FG) put up 11 points each. No other Maverick cracked the 10-point barrier.

The Warriors’ celebrations might have been more excessive than usual but it was worth it, as the Mavericks have taunted Golden State after wins earlier this season. This primarily refers to PJ Washington using Curry’s ‘night night’ celebration against the originator after a Mavs win this season.

Golden State got sufficient revenge tonight, with this win improving their record to 30-27, just half a game behind the Dallas Mavericks with a 31-27 record. The Warriors are the No. 9 seed while the Mavericks are No. 8, so winning this game was crucial for Golden State to keep their chase alive while also not surrendering the season series to Dallas which could hurt them in a tie-breaker situation later.

If the season was to end with both teams in the same seeds and Dallas had won tonight, they’d get an easier Playoff path as the No. 8 seed compared to Golden State requiring to win two Play-In games just to make it in to face the No. 1 seed. Both teams need to maximize wins right now, as the Playoff picture seems to be solidifying with 20-odd games left in the season.
