During the Golden State Warriors’ final preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers, former Warriors general manager Bob Myers found himself on the receiving end of some good-natured roasting from head coach Steve Kerr and superstar guard Stephen Curry. Myers, who was broadcasting the game for ESPN, pulled Kerr and Curry aside for an interview that quickly turned into a lighthearted reunion filled with humor and banter.

Bob Myers: “I feel like you didn’t coach as well while I was here.”

Steve Kerr: “I feel like we have more talent now that Mike Dunleavy is the GM.”

Bob Myers: “On a scale from 1 to 10, how much are you guys missing me?”

Stephen Curry: “I’m having real PTSD right now from all the meetings we had upstairs, so I’m going to let y’all have this.”

Bob Myers: “A little bit of a dress rehearsal tonight minus Curry — is this what you want to see?”

Steve Kerr: “It’s not a fair fight, obviously. They are not playing any of their guys. But I like our focus. I like the way our guys are moving the ball, taking care of it. So, it’s been a good night.”

Bob Myers: “Anything you need from me in the fourth quarter on the broadcast?”

Steve Kerr: “We were done with you two years ago.”

As the Warriors dominated the game, leading by 42 points heading into the fourth quarter, there was ample time for some fun. Myers kicked off the playful exchange by joking about Kerr’s coaching.

Without missing a beat, Kerr fired back. This quick response was a reference to Dunleavy, who took over the role of general manager after Myers stepped down following the 2022-23 season. The exchange had everyone in stitches, showcasing the strong bond and camaraderie that still exists between Kerr and Myers, despite Myers no longer being a part of the Warriors’ front office.

The joke was a nod to the numerous meetings the trio had during Myers’ tenure as GM, many of which must have been long and intense, given the Warriors’ success over the years.

Myers playfully asked Stephen Curry how much they missed him after he left the team. Curry jokingly responded by saying that he was feeling “PTSD” (a lighthearted reference to stress or discomfort) from all the intense meetings they had when Myers was still with the team. This was Curry’s way of poking fun at the amount of time and effort they spent together in serious discussions about the team’s operations and strategies.

Myers then tried to shift the conversation to a more serious tone by asking Kerr about the Warriors’ blowout performance, specifically how the team was executing without Curry on the floor.

Kerr, ever the professional, acknowledged the lopsided nature of the game. Kerr was clearly pleased with his team’s performance, despite the lack of competition from the Lakers, who rested their entire starting lineup.

But the interview couldn’t end without one last jab from Myers. His remark had everyone laughing, including Myers, and was the perfect way to wrap up the lighthearted exchange.

The playful banter between Myers, Kerr, and Curry highlighted the strong relationship they built during their time together. Myers was an integral part of the Warriors’ success, helping to construct a dynasty that won four NBA championships. Though no longer in his role as GM, it’s clear that Myers remains a beloved figure within the organization.

As the Warriors wrapped up their preseason with a dominant 132-74 win and an undefeated record, the lighthearted roasting of Myers was a fitting reminder of the close-knit environment that has been a hallmark of Golden State’s success. Even in moments of fun, the mutual respect and admiration among the key figures who built this Warriors dynasty were on full display.
