Most people would openly admit defeat when asked about facing Michael Jordan in a hypothetical pick-up game. For the notorious LaVar Ball, however, he won’t let an amputated leg stop him from stoking his enormous ego.
“People been saying I still can’t beat Michael Jordan one-on-one, especially without my foot,” said Ball in a TikTok. “Well, guess what? If I really wanted to, I can give him 70 and an a**-whoopin.”
In another clip, Ball shows off his unbreakable morale by singing and dancing to ‘What is Love’ while showing off his newly amputated right foot.

Ball first rose to the public eye when his oldest son, Lonzo, became a star at UCLA. After averaging 14.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game for the Bruins, Lonzo earned a spot on the Lakers, and his dad, LaVar, was with him every step of the way.
More so than most NBA parents, LaVar was heavily involved in the business. As he was working to get his boys to represent Big Baller Brand, he frequently made headlines for his bold and overconfident media quotes, including the claim that he could beat Michael Jordan in a one-on-one back in 2023.
LaVar was doing everything in his power to bring attention to all three of his sons as they were coming into the league, but he had fallen out of the spotlight in recent years.
That was until a few weeks ago when it was revealed Ball lost his foot due to a medical issue. The entire basketball community rallied around LaVar but it seems he’s healthy enough to keep doing the two things he does best: support his sons and talk a big game.
In his claim about Michael Jordan, LaVar is clearly overselling his abilities. As a legendary trash talker, Ball tends to talk up himself and his family in every conceivable category and this is just another example of his unshakable confidence.
As the NBA GOAT in the minds of many fans, Michael Jordan’s legacy is undeniable. He’s a 6x champion, 5x MVP, and 14x All-Star. In 15 years in the NBA, Jordan averaged 30.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game on 44.5% shooting. Even today, at 62 years old, there aren’t many players who could beat MJ one-on-one.
LaVar is not one of those players, but his confidence leads him to claim that he could beat him right now, at 57 years old, with just one leg. The man’s confidence is stunning.
While Ball played basketball and football at West Los Angeles College, he has no professional experience. Instead, he serves primarily as a father and supporter for his sons with goals to build and expand his family empire.
Meanwhile, his kids continue to carry on his legacy. Lonzo has returned from the NBA after years of injuries, LaMelo is the star of his own NBA team, and LiAngelo is perhaps the most famous of them all after the hit release of his single, ‘Tweaker.’
In short, the Ball family has become one of the NBA’s biggest success stories. While LaVar used to be hated for his outlandish quotes, he’s celebrated today for his positivity and unconditional support of those he cares for the most.
