The Los Angeles Lakers‘ recent hot streak was interrupted by a 115-119 loss to the Houston Rockets in the Rockets’ Toyota Center. The Rockets had a lead as big as 22 points in the first half, but the Lakers clawed their way back into the game and cut the lead to two points in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, they were still unable to take the win.

Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 30 points (10-18 FG), 13 rebounds, and five blocks while LeBron James had a near-triple-double with 21 points (8-16 FG), 13 rebounds, and nine assists. Austin Reaves‘ great form continued, with the guard putting up 21 points (6-13 FG) and 10 assists, while Max Christie had 14 points (4-8 FG) and Rui Hachimura had 13 points (5-9 FG).

“Jalen Green was on fire against the Lakers,” said one fan with a gif of Michael Jordan shrugging.

“Amen Thompson is a point guard he can grab 10+ rebounds a night he might be special,” said another fan giving Amen Thompson his flowers.

“Lot of Laker teams in recent years don’t make this run,” said one fan trying to take positives from this loss.

“Lakers have no answers for hyper-athletic teams,” said another fan discussing what went wrong for the Lakers.

“Rui got subbed out for DFS within the 1st minute of the second half and the Lakers erased a 20-point deficit,” said one fan impressed with Dorian Finney-Smith’s impact on the Lakers.

“Bro the NBA has really aged LeBron. He looks like 20 years older,” said one fan remarking on LeBron’s mortality.

“You can really see how much the Lakers miss Vanderbilt. As much as Max Christie has improved, he’s probably not the guy you want shadowing the more dynamic on-ball creators in this league for 30 minutes per game. (Jalen) Green largely had his way with him in the 2nd half,” said one fan hoping Jarred Vanderbilt can return soon.

The Rockets were led by Jalen Green’s 33 points (12-24 FG) with six rebounds and four assists with Amen Thompson having 23 points (11-19 FG) and 16 rebounds in the win. Fred VanVleet had 15 points (5-11 FG) while No. 1 option Alperen Sengun took a backseat tonight with 14 points (6-14 FG) and six rebounds.

The Rockets improved their record to 23-12, staying in the race for the No. 2 seed in the West. The Lakers are now 20-15, falling half a game behind the Denver Nuggets for the No. 4 seed while being tied with the LA Clippers and Dallas Mavericks for the No. 5 seed.
