The Los Angeles Lakers got their 2024-25 NBA season off to a good start with a 3-2 record over October, winning their first three contests before picking up back-to-back losses against the Phoenix Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers. But the Lakers have only faced top-tier opposition so far this season and looked great in each game except their latest loss to the Cavaliers.

- November Could Be A Strong Month For The Lakers
LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and JJ Redick are hoping to solidify their status as contenders over the month of November, especially with an exciting schedule featuring a mix of rebuilding and contending teams.Â
Let’s take a look at the 14 games (seven home, seven away) coming up for the Lakers in November and what record we believe they’ll end the month with, announcing to the league where they stand in terms of competitiveness this season.
Lakers @ Raptors (November 1; 7:30 PM EST)
We start with the Lakers game which will be played tonight against the Toronto Raptors, who have started the season 1-4. The Raptors have solid players who could push the Lakers into a loss but most of them will be unavailable for this clash, with Kelly Olynyk (back), Immanuel Quickley (pelvis), Scottie Barnes (nose), and Bruce Brown (knee) all likely to miss the contest. This should be an easy win and allow the Lakers to brush off their back-to-back losses.Â
Prediction: Lakers def. Raptors 128-111
Lakers @ Pistons (November 4; 7:30 PM EST)
The Detroit Pistons were the last Eastern Conference team to pick up a win this season, with the franchise not getting off to a good start after last year’s disappointments. Nonetheless, the Pistons look incredibly competitive under Cade Cunningham and have started the season as one of the best third-quarter teams in the NBA. Unfortunately, they’re the worst fourth-quarter team in the NBA and will likely fall victim to the Lakers.
Prediction: Lakers def. Pistons 131-113
Lakers @ Grizzlies (November 6; 8 PM EST)
The last stop on the Lakers’ current road trip comes against Playoff threats Memphis Grizzlies. While the Grizzlies will likely still be afflicted by injuries to Luke Kennard (foot), Marcus Smart (ankle), Desmond Bane (oblique), and more by the time of this matchup, they’ll be a very hard opponent if Ja Morant remains available. Nonetheless, the potential absences and the raw nature of rookie Zach Edey mean that they likely won’t have a response for Davis and James, no matter what Morant can conjure up offensively.Â
Prediction: Lakers def. Grizzlies 108-104
76ers @ Lakers (November 8; 10 PM EST)
This is one of the trickiest matchups to evaluate for the Lakers primarily because the Philadelphia 76ers roster seems to be in complete flux. No one is sure when Joel Embiid and summer-signing Paul George will make their season debuts, but hopefully, with the minor nature of their injuries, they will be available to play the Lakers next week. Even though Embiid and George are yet to play a game together, I’d lean towards the 76ers using this contest as one to make a statement and coming off with a win over the Lakers.Â
Prediction: 76ers def. Lakers 119-108
Raptors @ Lakers (November 10; 9:30 PM EST)
Not much to be said about this matchup given how we discussed their earlier encounter as a one-sided affair, especially if their star players remain unavailable. Darko Rajakovic will look to implement some interesting offensive schemes for the Raptors, so hopefully, they can get value out of this game which could be a one-sided Lakers without their star players back on the court.Â
Prediction: Lakers def. Raptors 114-101
Grizzlies @ Lakers (November 13; 10 PM EST)
The only difference between this matchup and the one from earlier is the location, as the first was home for the Grizzlies while this fixture will be played at Crypto.com Arena. Given positive injury luck, the Grizzlies can be in a position to pull off a solid upset provided they can win the offensive battle overall. Unfortunately, I don’t see that happening as the Lakers will continue their mismatch strengths over the Grizz to pull this win off.
Prediction: Lakers def. Grizzlies 124-118)
Lakers @ Spurs (November 15; 7:30 PM EST)
The San Antonio Spurs will present a literal tall threat to the Lakers at the midway point of November, where the franchise will hope to have maximized the result of the games. The Spurs have looked like a raw team despite the obvious talent of Victor Wembanyama. With a big like Davis to balance Wemby’s impact on the game, the Lakers should easily figure them, out and continue stacking wins over the West.
Prediction: Lakers def. Spurs 115-109)
Lakers @ Pelicans (November 16; 8 PM EST)
One of the most notable matchups for the Lakers in November comes when Anthony Davis and JJ Redick travel back to New Orleans to face former franchise Pelicans in a Western Conference clash. The Pelicans will likely remain without players like Dejounte Murray and Trey Murphy III, but this could be a stylistic problem the Lakers struggle to overcome. The Pels’ perimeter pressure could cause the Lakers to struggle, who haven’t looked like a solid on-ball team to open the season, although much could change by mid-November.
Prediction: Pelicans def. Lakers 113-108
Jazz @ Lakers (November 19; 10:30 PM EST)
One of the easiest results to predict will be when the Lakers face the Utah Jazz, the franchise who have comfortably looked like the worst team in basketball to start this season. Even with all the possibilities of improvement over the next 20 days, we’ll preliminarily pick the Lakers to emerge victorious in this clash.
Prediction: Lakers def. Jazz 129-111
Magic @ Lakers (November 21; 10:30 PM EST)
The recent injury to Paolo Banchero likely means that the 21-year-old superstar will be unavailable by the time the Lakers host the Orlando Magic in the third week of November. The Magic have gotten their season off to a hot start, but it likely won’t be easy to beat the Lakers given Orlando’s continuing spacing issues and lack of a bonafide interior score who can credibly challenge Davis in the paint.
Prediction: Lakers def. Magic 109-98
Nuggets @ Lakers (November 23; 10:30 PM EST)
In many eyes, this could be the defining fixture of the month in terms of establishing if the Lakers can be taken seriously as a contending franchise. The Denver Nuggets have tormented them over the last two seasons, but given Denver’s regression, the Lakers will be motivated to get this monkey off their back and pick up a statement win over Nikola Jokic and his squad to cement their status as contenders in what’s turning out to be a great November for the franchise.
Prediction: Lakers def. Nuggets 126-121
Lakers @ Suns (November 26; 10 PM EST)
The Lakers will face the Phoenix Suns for the third time this season in this late-November clash, with the franchises having split their two games in October for the regular season. These teams are familiar with each other, but with the additional versatility we’ve seen on both ends of the floor from the Suns to open the season, we believe a high-functioning Lakers squad will eat another loss in this clash nearly a month away from now.
Prediction: Suns def. Lakers 119-103
Lakers @ Spurs (November 27; 8:30 PM EST)
We expect a similar result to the earlier clash between the Lakers and Spurs, with the Spurs not well-equipped to handle the Lakers play-style given what we’ve seen to open the season.Â
Prediction: Lakers def. Spurs 120-112
Thunder @ Lakers (November 29; 10 PM EST)
The biggest challenge on the Lakers’ November schedule is facing off against the prohibitive Western Conference favorites; the OKC Thunder. The Lakers were a matchup the Thunder struggled to figure out last season, with JJ Redick hoping to continue that matchup advantage. But even with Isaiah Hartenstein expected to miss this matchup, the individual leaps from the roster and players like Chet Holmgren would be enough to hand the Lakers a reality-setting loss.
Prediction: Thunder def. Lakers 119-97
November Could Be A Strong Month For The Lakers
Even with the predicted loss to the Thunder, it is a low moment in what we predict to be a wonderful run of fixtures in November with a 10-4 record. The Lakers have favorable matches against mid-tier and tanking teams with a couple of major opponents like the Thunder and Suns thrown in.Â
These predictions take good health for granted outside of existing injuries, but the Lakers have shown that they have a sustainable style of basketball under coach Redick which can get them off to a hot start to the season, especially in November where they will also defend their NBA Cup honor from last season.
