Point guard Damian Lillard has requested a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers, and it has already been revealed that his destination of choice is the Miami Heat. There’s no doubt that he could be a difference-maker for them, particularly on the offensive end.

It was recently reported that the Miami Heat are willing to give up anyone besides Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo for the point guard. It is likely that a package would be built around Tyler Herro, as he is the team’s most valuable player besides their stars. There were some rumors that he could end up on the Nets via a three-team deal, and A recent report from Heat insider Ethan Skolnick revealed that Tyler Herro believes that he will end up being traded, and even “expecting” it.

“Tyler Herro believes he’s going to get traded… that’s what he’s been telling people, he’s expecting to be traded… everything seems to be leaning towards the Nets more as a legitimate possibility right now.”

There is no doubt that generally, superstars end up on teams that they want to be at. That will likely be the case for Damian Lillard as well, and it seems as though it is only a matter of time before he is a member of the Miami Heat. Though giving up Tyler Herro will be tough for the Heat, getting a superstar of Damian Lillard’s caliber is absolutely worth it.

This season, Tyler Herro has averaged 20.1 PPG, 5.4 RPG, and 4.2 APG for the Miami Heat. There is no doubt that he could end up as a franchise cornerstone for the Brooklyn Nets if moved there, and we’ll see what happens in the future.

There Are Other Teams Besides The Miami Heat Who Want Damian Lillard

Even though the Miami Heat are Damian Lillard’s preferred destination,  that has not stopped other teams from checking in about the point guard. A recent report revealed that the Celtics, Clippers, Timberwolves, and Heat have all inquired about the point guard’s availability.

With that being said, the likelihood of any of those teams landing Damian Lillard is slim if he doesn’t want to play for them. We’ll see what happens, and perhaps Lillard could eventually change his mind about playing somewhere other than the Heat.
