Anthony Edwards has built a reputation as one of the NBA’s best young stars, and with that comes a level of confidence that few can match. The Minnesota Timberwolves guard is not only known for his explosive scoring ability but also for his elite trash-talking skills. His latest exchange with Dillon Brooks only solidifies his status as one of the league’s most entertaining talkers.

During the Timberwolves’ 127-114 victory over the Houston Rockets, Edwards had a heated back-and-forth with Brooks, who was tasked with guarding him throughout the game. The matchup was physical and chippy, but Edwards made sure to let Brooks—and the entire Rockets team—know who had the last laugh.

After hitting a dagger shot over Brooks, Edwards was caught on a hot mic mercilessly taunting him as the game went into a timeout. The leaked audio, which quickly went viral, captured Edwards saying:

“That n***a booty. That n***a booty. F**k wrong with this n***a talking all that sh*t? Talking all that sh*t.”

Clearly fired up, Edwards relentlessly mocked Brooks, making it clear that all the talk and antics from the Rockets’ forward were not phasing him one bit.

Then, as the game wound down and the Timberwolves secured the win, Edwards continued trolling the Rockets, pointing at their bench and laughing as he walked off the court. He then turned his attention to Jabari Smith Jr., who has missed significant time due to injury, and told him:

“Aye, get healthy, n***a.”

While Edwards was ruthless in his jabs, he also showed a moment of sportsmanship, wishing Smith a healthy return. However, his competitive fire was still burning as he walked into the tunnel, dropping one last line:

“Watch who they’re talking to, n***a.”

The entire sequence further cemented Edwards’ reputation as a fearless competitor who refuses to back down from anyone.

Dillon Brooks has long been known for his physical and aggressive defense, often trying to get into the heads of opposing stars. Against Anthony Edwards, that strategy did not work.

Throughout the game, Brooks resorted to physical play, at one point hitting Edwards in the face and standing over him when he fell. This only fueled Edwards, who dropped 41 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists while leading the Timberwolves to a dominant fourth-quarter performance. Edwards made it clear that while he embraces the competitive nature of the game, there is a line that Brooks crossed.

This is not the first time Edwards has been caught trash-talking, and it certainly won’t be the last. In fact, he currently leads the NBA in fines, racking up a staggering $285,000 in penalties—a total higher than the next four most-fined players combined.

Despite the financial hit, Edwards shows no signs of changing his approach. He continues to play with swagger, and his unapologetic attitude only endears him more to fans.

With the Timberwolves now sitting at 29-23 and in the 6th seed of the Western Conference, Edwards’ leadership and competitive edge are key factors in their success.

Following their win over the Rockets, the Timberwolves look to keep their momentum going as they prepare for their next game against the Portland Trail Blazers. Edwards is averaging 27.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game this season, proving himself as one of the league’s brightest young superstars.

While the Timberwolves have championship aspirations, it’s moments like these that show Edwards is built for the big stage. He embraces the spotlight, welcomes the pressure, and never backs down from a challenge—even when facing one of the NBA’s most notorious agitators in Dillon Brooks.

With his explosive scoring, elite athleticism, and legendary trash-talking, Edwards is proving that he is not just the future of the Timberwolves—he’s one of the most electrifying players in the entire NBA.
