After the Knicks played the Timberwolves in a preseason game just days after the Karl-Anthony Towns trade, a video surfaced of Anthony Edwards telling Towns he would love to be reunited. This got Knicks fans excited about the possibility of Edwards joining the Knicks, but a different angle of the clip has shown that Edwards tells the fan that he doesn’t want to join because he’ll get booed on off nights.
“Y’all n****s ain’t finna be mad at me when I have an off night… When I play bad, y’all are going to be like ‘Boo!’.”

Edwards was sharing a moment with his recently-traded teammate, Karl-Anthony Towns, who was shockingly moved to the Knicks in exchange for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo. Fans were shocked to see such a high profile trade between two teams that were already considered contenders before the season began.
Both teams have seemingly benefitted from the trade, as the Knicks received a shooting big man who can compete with Kristaps Porzingis and Joel Embiid, at least on the offensive end. Whereas the Timberwolves received a proven All-Star in Julius Randle.
So far, the Knicks have started the season 1-1, losing their first game to the Celtics in a blowout, but then bouncing back and getting a measure of revenge on the Pacers, the team who eliminated them from the playoffs last year, in their home opener. Karl-Anthony Towns has played well, despite a rough start against the Celtics, averaging 16.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.
As for Julius Randle and the Timberwolves, they struggled out the block in their season opener against the Lakers, but have been able to bounce back in wins against the Kings and the Raptors. Randle has put up decent numbers in the first three games, averaging 24.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 0.0 steals, and 0.0 blocks per game.
Will Edwards Ever Seriously Consider The Knicks?
It’s hard to tell whether Edwards was being sincere when dealing with the Knicks fanbase in the video above. Edwards is known in the NBA as a bit of a troll and could have just been having some fun at their expense while sharing a moment with his former teammate.
But would Anthony Edwards ever seriously consider joining the New York Knicks? It’s hard to tell. For the time being, it looks like his relationship with the Minnesota Timberwolves is excellent, and a parting of ways between the two is not imminent or in the near future.
However, the Timberwolves also had a great relationship with Towns, and they ended up trading him as his contract was set to become unaffordable for the team. So nothing can be said with a guarantee.
Many NBA players grow up dreaming about playing for the Knicks, as it is one of the most historic franchises in the NBA, and is in the biggest media market of the league, which provides players with more opportunities off the court.
Edwards is currently signed to a 5-year, $244 million contract with the Timberwolves, that expires in 2028. So don’t expect him to sign with the Knicks as a free agent, but a trade could be possible, even if it seems unlikely now.
