Kevin Durant spoke during his publicized game of 2K against NFL star Sauce Gardener about his perfect starting 5 with current NBA players. Durant put Luka Doncic at the point guard position, Klay Thompson at shooting guard, himself at small forward, LeBron James at power forward, and Joel Embiid at the center spot.

“I’ll probably go with Luka [Doncic] at that point. Luka, me, LeBron [James], [Joel] Embiid at my 5 because he can shoot the three better. You gotta go with somebody like Klay [Thomspon].”

Surprisingly, Durant snubbed Stephen Curry and Kyrie Irving from his starting 5, which is interesting considering they are by far two of his greatest teammates of all time. On top of that, his current teammates Devin Booker and Bradley Beal also didn’t make the cut, neither did his OKC teammates Russell Westbrook and James Harden.

Durant has had the privilege of playing with several amazing players in the NBA, whether that be during his time with the Thunder, the Warriors, the Nets, or now the Suns. While KD is one of the all-time greats, he has been able to pair very well with some other incredible stars in the league.

Currently, as mentioned before, Durant is part of a big three with Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. However, the trio disappointed in their first season together, barely playing together during the regular season due to injuries. This stop-start tenure led to the Suns only securing the sixth seed and barely making the playoffs.

The Suns were then humiliated in the first round of the playoffs by Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves. It was an abysmal showing from a team that many felt was going to make a deep run in the playoffs just on the basis of their offensive firepower. But not even being able to win a game in the playoffs was quite a letdown.

Kevin Durant Unhappy With NBA 2K Rating

Kevin Durant was playing 2K with Sauce Gardener, which may have come as a surprise to fans after Durant spoke openly about his NBA 2K25 rating, and how disappointed he was. Perhaps he will use this as motivation heading into the new season, and hope he gets an overall boost during the first few rounds of updates.

Durant is coming off a great summer, where he was an integral part of Team USA’s gold medal win at the Paris Olympics. It was the first time fans got to see Durant play alongside Stephen Curry and LeBron James at the same time, as the three greatest players of their generation took to the court together.

Perhaps KD will be able to use this momentum to get off to a hot start with the Suns next season.

The franchise’s owner has made it clear that they will run things back with Durant, Booker, and Beal, and not trade anyone. So they will try and avenge their poor performance last season, make a strong run in the playoffs, and potentially even win the NBA championship.
