The Golden State Warriors have exercised incredible patience this past season. Even amid a rough season, and ugly, uncharacteristic stretches, the front office held off on making trades and sit a week before the deadline with the same roster they had to start the season.

And while the Warriors are still two games within .500, their recent surge may have changed their thinking when it comes to making trades. According to Warriors insider Monte Poole of NBC Sports, we shouldn’t expect the Dubs to make more than one move before the deadline.

There was consideration for at least one trade and maybe two, according to league sources, but standing pat was not an option if the defending champs were to climb back into a position of power.

Already, the Warriors have done enough to indicate they’re trending upward. Though one trade remains a possibility, according to league sources, two deals now seem less likely.

With Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, and Kevon Looney, the core five was never a problem for the Warriors. Rather, it was their young and unproven bench that lacked the same punch.

But thanks to improved play from Jonathan Kuminga and JaMychal Green, the Warriors are starting to look better off the bench as well, which could be the culprit behind their current win streak.

Will The Warriors Make Any Big Changes This Season?

While the defending champs are starting to play better, they haven’t yet had that moment or run that truly signals their return as one of the best teams in basketball.

As a result, some fans and executives are calling for the Warriors to make some rather drastic changes.

“They should [trade him this year]”, a Western Conference executive told Sean Deveney. “If they made the decision that they’re not giving up any of the young kids… are you going to just keep chugging forward with what you’ve got… Draymond punch with [Jordan] Poole was a bigger deal than they let on, it is still dragging down that team.”

The Warriors are notoriously attached to their core, so it’s unlikely Curry, Thompson, or Draymond go anywhere this season.

Still, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for this team and which players are still going to be there by this time next year.
