LeBron James’ future in the NBA has been a hot topic of discussion among the media and fans over the last few weeks. It was recently reported that Kyrie Irving recruited James to the Dallas Mavericks.
James will reportedly consider the move this summer. NBA analyst Nick Wright has a theory about who leaked the story of James and Irving’s potential reunion in Dallas.
“There are pieces of this that I think came from all different sources,” Wright said during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show. “I think that the genesis of this report is Kyrie, not because he thinks LeBron is going to get bought out by the Lakers and sign with the Mavs for the minimum because that can’t happen, and the Mavs won’t be able to trade for LeBron. I think Kyrie wanted this out there to engender support from the Mavs to give him a max contract.”
Wright explained that Kyrie is using this to show the Mavericks that they can trust him and hand him a max contract this summer. In addition, Wright also believes that the Mavericks played a role in leaking the story.
“The Mavs leaked that part of it to engender loyalty from Luka,” Wright added. “Like, look, man, we’re trying everything where we will do anything to make this team better up to, including trying to trade for players who are not trade eligible. We just want you to be happy.”

Kyrie Irving could land a five-year contract worth $272 million from the Dallas Mavericks because the organization owns his Bird rights. On the other hand, any other team in the league can only offer him a contract worth $202 million over the next four years.
So, it’s only natural for Irving to stay in the good books of the Mavericks. Trying to recruit LeBron James could boost his chances of signing a new deal with the Mavs sooner rather than later.
Is Kyrie Irving’s Door To The Los Angeles Lakers Sealed Shut?
Time after time, Kyrie Irving’s name has popped up as a potential target for the Los Angeles Lakers. With Irving set to enter free agency as an unrestricted free agent, the Lakers are expected to make a move for him.
For the 2022-23 NBA season, Kyrie averaged 27.0 PPG, 5.0 RPG, and 6.0 APG, as the Mavericks finished with a 38-44 record.
But what if Kyrie decides to re-sign with the Mavs? Well, even in that case, ESPN’s Zach Lowe believes Irving can still come to L.A. in the future.
“I don’t think they’ve shut the door completely on Kyrie coming to the Lakers at some point,” Lowe said. “Just because it doesn’t happen this summer, if it doesn’t happen this summer, doesn’t mean it can’t ever happen. I don’t think that door is closed.”
Irving wants the fans to stop linking his name to the Lakers. But he must be well aware that trying to win a ring alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis will be much easier than Luka Doncic by his side.
What will Kyrie Irving do? The entire NBA community will have eyes on Irving’s decision about his future this summer.
