Nikola Jokic is widely considered the best center in the game today, and there is no doubt that the superstar has had a productive season this year. He has led the Denver Nuggets to the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, and they look like serious championship contenders this season.

The overall team performance of the Denver Nuggets this year, combined with Nikola Jokic’s production, has earned the center a lot of MVP buzz. Recently, Nikola Jokic reacted to him potentially being able to win another MVP award, and it seems as though the center doesn’t really want the accolade.

“I really can’t do it again,” said Jokic. “When it begins, and they put me in the narrative again. Oh, he hasn’t played well… Oh, now he’s great. Let him (Larry Bird) have it. Let him have it. Let him enjoy it.”

It would definitely be insane to see Nikola Jokic win the MVP award once again and achieve something that has not been done since Larry Bird. However, it is clear that the MVP award is not a priority for the superstar, and it is likely that he is more focused on winning a championship with the Nuggets this season.

As of right now, Nikola Jokic is averaging 24.4 PPG, 11.8 RPG, and 10.0 APG for the Denver Nuggets. He could end up being the first center to ever average a triple-double, and there is no doubt that he has a solid MVP case.

LeBron James Thinks Voter Fatigue Shouldn’t Affect Nikola Jokic’s MVP Case

There is no doubt that a player winning MVP three times carries a certain gravity to it. Even players like LeBron James and Michael Jordan were unable to do that, partly due to the phenomenon of “voter fatigue,” where the voters generally don’t vote for the same player more than two years in a row. Obviously, some believe that voter fatigue shouldn’t be a factor in this year’s MVP race, with LeBron James being among them.

“You hear sometimes ‘voters fatigue,’ voting for the same guy year after year after year. But at the end of the day, if he’s the MVP and he’s playing like the MVP, then you should get it year after year after year.”

It will be interesting to see if Nikola Jokic will manage to win the MVP award this year. He is clearly many people’s frontrunner for the award, and we’ll see what ends up happening in the future.
