Nuggets star Nikola Jokic isn’t normally one to puff out his chest, but not even he could help himself from having some fun after winning the title this season. After months and months of doubts questioning his game, he finally proved them all wrong by carrying his team to a championship.
In the moments that followed, Jokic was going crazy with celebrations and apparently even trash-talked Mike Miller after finally getting it done.
“I wake up to a text at 3:30 in the morning from Joker and I used to always make fun of him because he didn’t do nothing. And so he texts me in the morning and said, ‘Hey brotha, you ever won MVP? Or Finals MVP?’ I said, ‘No I haven’t.’ He said, ‘You kinda sucked, didn’t ya?’”

Mike Miller was a fine shooter in his day, but he’s nothing like the Joker. At this stage of his career, Jokic is the total package offensively, and there’s really nothing left for the haters to use against him. So good on Jokic for taking the opportunity to turn the tables on his hecklers.
The question now is, can Jokic and the Nuggets keep this up and form a dynasty, or will they forever go down as a one-hit wonder?
Will The Joker Keep Dominating?
The West is only getting stronger, and teams like the Lakers and Suns definitely pose a bigger threat than they did a month ago. Even still, the Nuggets have what they need to repeat as the champs, and there’s no end to what Murray and Jokic can do together.
“If they blitz me and I hit Joker in the pocket, now we’re playing four on three with the best passing center of all time,” said Murray. “So I think just the levels to our game, the levels to the pick and roll, you know, I can set a screen for him. We got so many different options out of that. I think, I think we have the most versatile and dominant one-two punch in the league, and that’s not a knock on anybody else. “
Now that Jokic has a taste of victory, it’s unlikely he plans to slow down anytime soon. The loss of Bruce Brown was tough for the Nuggets, but there is still faith in who they have and what they can do together when fully healthy.
