Nikola Jokic On Jamal Murray And The Future Of The Denver Nuggets: “He Was Our Leader. He Was Banged Up. He’s A Dog. He’s A Fighter. He’s A Competitor. He’s An Amazing Shooter. He Played Amazing. Since When I Came Here Five Years Ago, We Had 33 Wins That

The Denver Nuggets put together an amazing run this season. Once again, people counted them out before the start of the playoffs. Once again, they proved their doubters wrong by making it to the Western Conference Finals.

The Nuggets were a true testament to hard work and resiliency and fought harder than everybody else when their backs were against the wall. They even became the first team in NBA history to ever come back from a 3-1 deficit twice in the same playoffs run.

Needless to say, Nikola Jokic was the guy everybody raved about entering the season and for very good reason. However, Jamal Murray blossomed right before our eyes in the playoffs and proved that he’s All-Star material and one of the most promising players in the league.

That’s why Jokic had to take his hat off when he addressed the media to look back on the season. Jokic had nothing but praise for his Canadian teammate, going as far as to say that he was their leader:

“He was banged up. (…) He’s a dog. He’s a fighter. He’s a competitor. He’s an amazing shooter. He played amazing. Since when I came here five years ago, we had 33 wins that season. And today we’re in the WCF,” The Joker said.

Murray was on a tear since the start of the season and he never took his feet off the gas. He knocked down huge shot after huge shot and always came through in the clutch, proving to be the perfect complement next to Nikola Jokic.

The Nuggets are still one piece away from becoming one of the biggest powerhouses in the Western Conference and they’re hoping Michael Porter Jr turns out to be that guy. Props to an organization for such a quick and sustainable turnaround. Hopefully, it’ll pay off with a ring rather sooner than later.
