When it comes to trash talk, not many in the league are better than Patrick Beverley.

After beating Dallas on Friday night, the veteran guard was up to his old shenanigans again. In a post on Twitter, he called out young stud Luka Doncic, who had 24 points on the night.

Of course, Bev does have a unique history with Luka.

He recently credited the guy as the toughest player he’s ever had to guard, which is a pretty wild claim considering all the people Beverley has faced off against over the years.

“His intelligence. He’s physical as f*** and flops at the same time, which is the same thing I do…. Swipe at me, “oh he’s trying to kill me ref, get him, he’s trying to kill me.”

After Friday’s victory, however, he walked back on the statement.

“Not this Year, got my Lick Back,” Beverley quoted tweeted a statement shared by Legion Hoops.

While this type of trolling is typical for Beverley (look at what he did to the Lakers a while back), the Wolves’ 43-32 record this season has no doubt emboldened him even more.

Over the past decade, the Timberwolves have endured a rough existence, consistently finishing near the bottom of the standings. In fact, the Timberwolves missed the postseason for 13 consecutive seasons before finally making it in 2018.

But now, things have changed. With Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, D’Angelo Russell, and Patrick Beverley, they have a core that has been competitive all season long.

For Beverley, the hope is that their newfound success will translate into the playoffs as well. That much remains to be seen.

Regardless, the Timberwolves are not lacking in confidence and don’t expect them to be afraid of anything as the April push draws closer.
