The Sacramento Kings are in a privileged position right now, entering Game 3 of their first-round series against the Golden State Warriors with a 2-0 advantage over the defending NBA champions and facing them without Draymond Green for this upcoming match.
This decision by the NBA wasn’t welcomed by a lot of people, and analyst Ric Bucher believes this is the league handing the series to the Kings.
“If I’m the Sacramento Kings and I think I’m better than the Golden State Warriors then I don’t want anything that’s going to put an asterisk (on this series) and this certainly does. This compromises not only this series, this compromises the entire Western Conference run. Because even though the Warriors end up winning Game 3, it’s extending the series somehow, someway. …This is arguably the most harshest penalty that’s ever been handed out in NBA playoff history.”
FS1’s Ric Bucher says the NBA has “essentially handed this series to the Sacramento Kings.”

Bucher sounded very concerned about this situation, but not everybody believed he was on the right with this take. The Warriors have been a terrible team on the road this season, and they showed that in the first two games of the series. Some have criticized the league’s decision to suspend Draymond Green, but outside of that, Golden State has struggled to figure out Sacramento.
Perhaps Game 3 gives them a chance to turn things around, but Bucher doesn’t think it’ll be the case, as the league made the decision to mess with the Warriors.
JJ Redick Claims Referees Have Favored Kings Over Warriors This Season
On that same note, JJ Redick made a similar take, claiming that referees have been giving more positive calls to the Kings than the Warriors, implying that they’ve had a big role in dictating the fate of the serious.
Kendrick Perkins called out Redick on that, but it’s clear that the former sharpshooter isn’t alone on this. Game 3 of this series is set for this Thursday, and the Warriors will try to get the first dub of the matchup, or else their chances to repeat as champions will look a lot slimmer.
