Superteams always create big debates around the NBA. Some fans say it’s bad for the competition, while others don’t have a problem, especially if their teams put together big names.
Richard Jefferson belongs to the second group, and he’s actually celebrating stars joining others to create big teams. It happened last season with the Brooklyn Nets, and this offseason, the Lakers emulated what the Nets did, landing Russell Westbrook to help LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
This isn’t a problem for RJ, and he took to Twitter to celebrate all the great squads we’ve seen since the 80s.
“I love Super Teams!! 80’s Celtics and Lakers, 90’s Bulls, Warriors 17-19 and now Lakers and Nets. Letssss goooo,” Jefferson wrote on Twitter.

Fans were quick to reply, explaining their point of view, agreeing and disagreeing with the former player-turned-analyst.
He joined at 34 and left at 36 so nice try. His 3 years there he averaged 15, 16, 15 rbs per game while being maybe being the best defensive PF in the game. He was A SUPERSTAR in his role just like Gobert is. Oh should we talk about Kukoc? Go check out his numbers.. 🤣

This sentence is repeat so much for years despite making no sense, what's the logic ? do players play worse if they get drafted or traded? If there's multiple ALL stars on your team that's a SUPERTEAM, anything else, his just people using no logic to get on player's decision.

A super team is assembled via player involvement. Dynasty and super team are not the same.

Wait a minute…there were stacked teams before Lebron went to Miami?!?! 😲🙄

So true! I hate it when ppl act like KD created super teams. Then they argue it was LeBron. No… I’ve watched them my entire life. The only difference now is that players are more empowered vs. GMs doing it all. I will add that Houston team to the list.

Teams were always stacked in the beginning because they were less team. Now we have more NBA teams so players have to be proactive to compete or they'll be a dame situation

'80s Celtics drafted bird in '79, mchale in '80 & traded for parish – a 0x all star prior to the Celtics – and won a chip in '81. That's 2nd yr bird, rookie mchale and 0x all star parish.
Bron stans are like dogs, so obedient & doing whatever they can to protect their master

In the end, RJ made it clear he’s not the one to blame for this, and if fans don’t like it, that’s just too bad.
Tweet away, argue till you’re blue in the face but players are creating them now soooo oh well 😂😂

This will always spark different reactions from fans. Still, whether you like it or not, superteams won’t stop happening in the league. It happened before, it’s happening now, and it’ll happen again.
