Who Is Miami Heat’s Owner Right Now?

Micky Arison, an Israeli-American billionaire, has been the owner of the Miami Heat since 1995. Under his ownership, the Heat achieved significant success, winning NBA titles in 2006, 2012, and 2013, establishing the franchise as one of the league’s most respected.

Beyond his role in the NBA, Arison, 73, serves as the chairman of Carnival Corporation & plc, a renowned cruise operation. The company, initially named Carnival Cruise Line, was co-founded by Arison’s father, Ted Arison, who also brought the Heat franchise to Miami in 1988. Despite his family connections, Micky Arison had to work his way up in the business world.

Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, Arison immigrated to the U.S. as a child and later attended the University of Miami before becoming a sales representative for his father’s cruise line in 1972. He was eventually named Carnival’s president and CEO in 1979, a position he held until 2013, after which he transitioned to chairman.

Under Arison’s leadership, Carnival expanded its cruise operations by acquiring successful cruise lines such as Holland America Line, Seabourn Cruise Line, Cunard Line, Costa Cruises, and Princess Cruises. This strategic expansion contributed to Carnival Cruise Line’s parent company becoming known as Carnival Corporation in 1993, establishing it as the largest and most successful cruise operator globally.

As of 2023, Micky Arison’s net worth is estimated at $5.6 billion by Forbes and $10.6 billion by Bloomberg. This substantial wealth stems from his ownership of the Miami Heat and his leadership at Carnival Corporation, which boasts more than 100 ships serving over 11 million people annually, with an estimated net worth of $12.26 billion.
