The Los Angeles Lakers’ big three of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook were supposed to dominate the NBA last season, Given how explosive the pairing of AD and Bron was, many expected Brodie to add to the firepower last season. But things didn’t transpire as expected. With Bron and AD missing multiple games through injuries, the Lakers heavily relied on Westbrook to step up.
Unfortunately, the 2017 MVP wasn’t up to the task, as he couldn’t replicate the form he had shown in his previous seasons. What made the situation worse was that the Lakers’ coaching staff couldn’t integrate Westbrook into the lineup when Bron and AD were fit. With the Purple and Gold never really coming up with a proper game plan for their big three, the team fell flat and perhaps had their most disappointing season ever.
Russell Westbrook Still Optimistic Of The Big Three Of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, And Him Dominating Next Season
Finishing at the 11th spot in the Western Conference was not something that the Lakers and their fans hoped for last season. Although their superstars did not have the best of performances, it is safe to say that injuries played a massive role in their disappointing season.
After all, we only saw 21 games of the big three of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook playing together with each other. With the big three still at the helm of the team, Brodie in a recent press conference said that he was confident of the big three dominate the league next season.
“There’s so much optimism on how we can be great, how AD, LeBron, myself — can be unstoppable in my opinion”
A sample of 21 games is certainly not enough to judge the potential of a big three of AD, Bron, and Brodie. With a new coach in Darvin Ham, the Lakers will hope that the coach can use the three superstars wisely for the team. The Purple and Gold can be an unstoppable force in their best form. Can they bring their A-game for the next season?
