Russell Westbrook has already begun training for the next season, and there are no half-measures as he ramps up his on-court work. And in what comes as proof that he’s serious about his work, he yelled at his trainer for not setting a good screen during practice.

“Screen Mike!” Westbrook was recorded yelling. “Mike! Set a f****n screen. What is this? Who screens like this, Mike” he continued before making his way to the basket and laying one in.

The 34-year-old has been a changed player ever since he joined the LA Clippers earlier this year. Westbrook was traded to the Utah Jazz by the Los Angeles Lakers ahead of the trade deadline. He later signed with the Clippers and made an instant impact on the offensive end.

With the Clippers, the explosive guard ended with 15.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 7.6 assists. He was their primary scoring option in the playoffs after injuries ruled out Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. And in what comes as a show of serious practice, Westbrook has already set the tone to be a more dominant force in the upcoming season.

Russell Westbrook And The LA Clippers Mutually Interested In A New Deal

Russell Westbrook is all set to be a free agent this season, and while many felt the Clippers wouldn’t be able to add him to their ranks, NBA insider Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, said the Clippers and Westbrook are mutually interested in a new deal.

“Mutual interest exists between the Los Angeles Clippers and Russell Westbrook on a new contract entering the offseason, sources say. Westbrook averaged 15.8 points, 7.6 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game in 21 regular-season games with the Clippers. The nine-time All-Star does not have much desire to play anywhere else other than in Los Angeles.”

This surely comes as good news for the Clippers who will now have an experienced veteran in Westbrook who has already proved he is a good fit alongside Leonard and George. If the two superstars manage to stay healthy, there’s no doubt that they will be legitimate title contenders with Westbrook in the mix.
