When Stephen Curry entered the NBA, he was nowhere close to the player that he has become right now. The 34-year-old has led the Golden State Warriors to four NBA Championships in the last eight seasons.
Moreover, after winning the 2022 NBA Championship, Curry finally added an NBA Finals MVP award to his resume as well. The absence of the NBA Finals MVP award has always been used against him.
Most fans and experts used it to disregard what else Steph has done in the league. They believed Steph wouldn’t be able to sit at the table of the greatest NBA players till he won that.
Even though Curry has now won the honor, there are surprisingly many who still believe Steph is not on the same level as Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, or Shaquille O’Neal.
However, former NBA player Derek Fisher recently spoke in defense of Curry. Fisher revealed that it’s about time fans and experts accepted the fact that Curry is in the same class as Duncan, Kobe, or Shaq.
Following Fisher’s comments, renowned NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe also revealed his thoughts on the same. Sharpe is puzzled why people want to dismiss Curry’s achievements and accolades in the NBA.

“Steph’s in my top 10 with Duncan, Kobe, and Shaq . There’s no question about it. … I don’t know why we want to dismiss a guy who has two MVPs, and one of those is unanimous.”
As Sharpe mentioned in the video, it’s truly surprising that people dismiss Steph’s achievements very easily. It simply doesn’t make any sense.
Steph has clearly done more than enough to be considered one of the greatest players of not only this generation but all time. Maybe when he retires from the league, that’s when fans will truly understand the impact of Curry.
