Louisiana State University is one of the best universities in the nation when it comes to athletics as a whole. There are many graduates who have gone on to play in professional leagues, with one of the more prominent names being Shaquille O’Neal.

Women’s basketball player Angel Reese recently led the LSU Tigers to a national championship, an event that got her a lot of attention from the media, both positive and negative. Shaquille O’Neal is someone that gave her a lot of love, defending her from the criticism she got after trash-talking Iowa star Caitlin Clark. O’Neal recently praised Angel Reese further, stating that she is the greatest athlete to come out of LSU.

Shaquille O’Neal: “She’s probably the greatest athlete to ever come out of LSU sports. You heard it here first. Male and female”

Nischelle Turner: “Including yourself?”

Shaquille O’Neal: “Yes. Guess what. She delivered. She delivered that package. See, a lot of us got the package, and we still got the package in our truck. She delivered that package.”

This is definitely a solid take from Shaquille O’Neal. Angel Reese deserves her flowers, and she won at the highest stage in college basketball. Though some people may disagree, Angel Reese definitely has a case as the greatest athlete to ever come out of LSU.

Shaquille O’Neal Had A Lot Of Success In The League

Though Shaquille O’Neal never won a national championship like Angel Reese, he proceeded to have a lot of success at the NBA level. In fact, he is widely considered to be the most dominant NBA player ever, with Richard Jefferson explaining why he believes that is the case.

“They (Shaq’s Lakers) changed how you had to construct your roster,” Jefferson said. “You had to have two or three bigs just for f***ing fouls. Not like good bigs, we just need bigs there, we need big bodies.”

There’s no question that Shaquille O’Neal’s physical ability and scoring at the rim forced many teams to have a lot of players that had the size to match up with him. He changed the way the game was played, as a lot of teams had to account for him when constructing a competitive roster.

It remains to be seen if Angel Reese will be as successful in the WNBA as Shaquille O’Neal was in the NBA. She definitely has the talent, and it is clear that O’Neal himself believes in her.
