Shaquille O’Neal has famously had a problem with Dwight Howard for years now, taking every opportunity he can to disparage him and make fun of him.
Recently though, after sharing a picture of an all-time Orlando Magic starting five and an all-time Los Angeles Lakers starting five, Shaq seemed to compliment Howard and even said that the Magic might win that matchup.
“This game might go seven, what you think? and ima have to go with the Magic on this one. Young Shaq and young Dwight, wooweeeeee,” Shaq wrote in a post.

The all-time Lakers five has LeBron James, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Shaquille O’Neal. While the Orlando Magic have Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Penny Hardaway, Dwight Howard, and Shaquille O’Neal. Most fans would say that the Lakers team would win easily, but it seems that Shaq doesn’t see it the same way.
Man for man, each player on the Lakers’ team is better than the Magic’s players, and they all have a case to be considered among the Top 10 players of all time. After making fun of Howard so often, it’s quite interesting that O’Neal has chosen to pay him a compliment here and show this much faith in his game.
Dwight Howard Wanted To End The Beef Between Him And Shaquille O’Neal And It Seems To Have Worked
Shaquille O’Neal, in the past, has made fun of Dwight Howard’s game, like the time he said a prime Dwight Howard would not be able to beat him 1-on-1 when he was 39 years old. But recently, after years of back and forth, Howard asked for the beef between him and O’Neal to end.
“For years I said it, I don’t have any beef with Shaq,” Howard said on Run It Back. “I think Chandler (Parsons) can tell you, for me, I want everybody to enjoy life, I don’t really have no beef with anyone.
“The ‘Me and Shaq’ thing, I don’t know what it is. If we gotta go to dinner, if we gotta come on this show and have a discussion – whatever it is. We getting old, man we getting older, let’s squash whatever beef we got.”
The plea seems to have worked, as Shaquille O’Neal is acknowledging that Dwight Howard was a problem on the court during his Orlando days. It might be overcorrecting to say that a team with them would beat the all-time Lakers, but it’s a step in the right direction.
